Our Projects

Who We Are

The Laboratory of Forest Sciences and Biodiversity Informatics (LSFBI) is a decentralized research unit of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (FSA) at the University of Abomey-Calavi.

Since October 2000, LSFBI has focused on training and research in forest sciences and biodiversity informatics to provide decision-makers with demand-driven research outputs and skilled resource managers for forest and biodiversity conservation amid climate and global changes.

Officially established by Order No. 538 – 12/UAC/FSA/D on July 6th, 2012.

What We Do

Our multidisciplinary team conducts research in the following priority areas:

Forest Silviculture, Structure, and Sustainable Management: Plant production, soil preparation, planting, maintenance, forest development, and logging.
Non-Timber Forest Products: Ethnobotanical studies on valuable species and their cultural significance to encourage conservation and sustainable use.
Biodiversity Informatics and Conservation in Climate Change Context: Analysis of biodiversity data linked to climate and environmental factors to support evidence-based decision-making.
