The PhD in Biodiversity Informatics is a four-year programme consisting of two stages: one year of academic study at the University of Abomey-Calavi and three years of thesis research at the students' research station/university in their home countries.

Components of the Four-Year Programme

Coursework Component

Students undertake foundational and advanced coursework in biodiversity, informatics, and data analysis during the first year of the program.

Seminar Component

PhD students are required to defend their thesis proposals in a seminar at the end of the first year prior to returning to their home country for the research phase.

Research Component

From year two to four, students conduct fieldwork and research, producing a dissertation aligned with biodiversity informatics applications.
